Well, this is a lengthy trip for those whose time and energy permit and wish to do a trip full of excitement and lots of stories to tell when come back home.

25 days, almost a month in Vietnam, the S-shaped country stretches from North to South of about 2,000 km. What we can imagine of doing in 25 day time? The answer is all the activities you can think of and it is definitely a long list of enjoyment: culture discovery and exchange with locals, adventure activities: trekking, biking, cruising, kayaking, paddling, snorkeling, etc. all sort of things that we can hardly make it in our busy daily lives.

And may be a brief intro would hardly describe what is inside the trip so read on, the adventures of life time await.


Day By Day Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrival Hanoi
In the evening, our van and guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer to hotel in Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2 Visit Old Quarter by Cyclo - Night train to Lao Cai
HanoiMorning, after breakfast in Hotel, we will enjoy two-hour cyclo (tri-saw) tour to visit Old Quarters of Hanoi whose narrow streets are named after the various crafts and specialties of the city’s artisans: Paper Street, Silk Street, Basket Street etc.

This practice dates back to the 13th century, when the city’s original 36 guilds established themselves here, adopting a street each to differentiate them from their neighbours. The maze of alleys and streets present a fascinating venue to explore on foot and the area is known for its interesting ‘tube’ houses, where the narrow frontages give way to long rooms that stretch back from streets, whose pavements are littered with food sellers tempting passers by with all manner of noodles, snacks and stir-fried delights from shoulder panniers.

Back to Hotel for your own lunch. The rest of day is your free day to explore other corners of Hanoi or just relax in Hotel until meet-up with our guide at your hotel around 7.30PM. Then our van will transfer you to Hanoi Train Station to take a night train to Lao Cai.

Day 3 Lao Cai - Sapa - Su Pan - Thanh Phu - Sin Chai
SapaThe train stops at Lao Cai Station in early morning. Transfer 1 hour by van to Sapa Town. Upon arrival Sapa, Check in a guesthouse, breakfast and relax until 9.00 am, you start pedaling downhill on a windy road, which goes along Muong Hoa valley.

The valley is home to Black Hmong, Giay and Red Dao minorities. From the road you will have many opportunities to enjoy amazing scenery of mountains and rice paddy terraces as far as the eyes can see.

After a short break in Su Pan, you will cycle or get in the support vehicle and slowly downhill until you reach Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you stop for lunch in a traditional Tay house. After lunch, your ride will be mostly uphill; you head toward Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority.
Where you will stay overnight in a bamboo hut in the village.

Day 4

Sin Chai B - Nam Nhiu - My Son - Ban Ho - Sapa
Today’s ride will be a little softer. You will pass by some tiny villages. You can stop by a local school and give children some small gifts such as pens or books. You will also be able to meet Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest ethnic group, which cannot be found in other areas. You will pass by Thanh Phu and continue to Ban Ho.

In Ban Ho you will enjoy lunch in a local house. After lunch, you will take a short walk to the nearby river, where you will be able to have a swim. You can take a break and have a cup of tea in a Tay house before you get on a car for a journey back to Sapa. Overnight in Sapa.

  • Visit villages, local schools on foot.

Day 5 Free Day in Sapa - Night train return Hanoi
Today is your free day to explore beautiful Sapa Town by your own until vehicle will take you to Lao Cai Town for night train back to Hanoi.

Day 6

Arrival Hanoi - Hoa Lu - Trang An
Arrive in Hanoi. Disembark from train around 6.00 AM , Our guide will pick up you to hotel for leaving luggage then we have a soft breakfast with beef noodles.

At 7.30AM, we will start a day trip to explore the beautiful countryside in Vietnam on an excursion to Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam during King Dinh and King Le dynasties in the 10th century. Nearby, the famous ten caves at Trang An are accessible during your boat trip on the Sao Khe River. Carved by the wind and sea from Limestone Mountains, the caves are just one aspect of the unique and beautiful sights in Vietnam’s lovely landscape.

We take a scenic drive crossing the paddy fields and local villages in the Red River Delta to Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam in the 10th century. Here we see the ruins of the former capitol. Then we drive to Trang An for a delicious Vietnamese lunch. After lunch, we take a traditional sampan through beautiful rice paddy scenery and visit the ten famous grottoes and many valleys. We drive back to Hanoi in late afternoon.

Day 7

Hanoi - Ha Long Bay - Cruising Experience
Halong bayHalong Bay, one of Vietnam’s, and indeed Southeast Asia’s, most spectacular natural attractions, whose staggering beauty has seen it listed as one of the eight natural wonders of the world. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay presents a quite extraordinary vista of hundreds of limestone islands (over 1600 at last count) that rise from the jade green waters of the bay like the scales of some great submerged dragon. Indeed Halong means ‘where the dragon descends to the sea’ and local legends tells of a time when this rugged landscape was created by the pounding tail of a mighty dragon as he ran from the mountains into the glittering waters of the bay below.

08h00 - 08h30: Pick-up at hotel and start the 3 hour-and-a-half drive to Halong Bay

12h00 - 12h30: Embark on Oriental Sails followed by cruise briefing

13h00 - 15h30: Savor a delectable lunch as Oriental Sails cruise further along the limestone islands of Fighting Cock, Dog Rock and Incense Burner, to name a few

15h30 - 17h30: Visit Amazing Cave and kayak along the hidden parts of the bay

17h30 - 19h00: Go swimming, snap photos or just relax as the sun starts to set

19h00: Dinner is served. Socialize with other guests or just laze around. Overnight on board

Day 8

Halong - Lan Ha Bay

08h30 - 09h00: Transfer to day boat for a cruise to Lan Ha Bay.

Have the whole day relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Van Boi beach, Ba Cat beach, and leisure kayak around the Lan Ha Bay.

16h30 - 17h00: Cruise back to the main boat.
19h00: Enjoy dinner. Overnight on board

Day 9 Halong Bay - Hanoi
06h00 - 07h00: Start your day with swimming, exercise or photo hunt

07h00 - 11h00: Have breakfast at sunrise. Cruise through Drum Cave Island, Man’s Head Islet, Van Gia Fishing Village and then head back to the Harbor.  Disembark Oriental Sails 

12h00 - 16h30: Transfer back to Hanoi and trip finishes at the hotel around 16h30. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 10

Fly to Da Nang - Transfer to Hue - Paddle Upstream Perfume River
Early morning, at 6:00 AM, after very light breakfast & check out, Transfer to the airport for flight to Da Nang. Arrival Da Nang, our car will pick you up at Da Nang Airport and transfer 3hrs to Hue.

On the way from Danang to Hue, we have chance to stop for taking photos at Lang Co Beach before traveling over the Hai Van Pass. Hai Van means "Sea ofClouds" and when crossing the top of the Pass you are literally surrounded by clouds on one side with stunning ocean views on the other.

Arrival Hue Royal City, we head to check - in your local house where we will spend two nights and enjoy cozy home - away - from - home.

After a welcome lunch served by friendly hostess. We depart to the center of Hue City by car and here we hop on a kayak and start a moderate paddling tour to upstream the Perfume river, passing the Hue citadel then paying a call on the bronze casting village to learn how the artisans cast a bell, which used for worship in almost Vietnamese pagodas.

Then motorcycling to visit  Royal Tiger Arena - one of the most historic few sites still stands today in Vietnam, the fighting place between animals, especially are elephants and tigers, much to the glee of the royalty as well as to assert the unbeatable strength of battle elephants.

If time permits, we will keep on heading to Vong Canh hill for the magnificent panorama of Hue especially the Nguyen Dynasty's tombs.. then heading on the paved roads to Emperor Tu Duc’s tomb.(05 hrs kayaking and motorcycling ).

Drive back to local house. Full dinner with the host’s family and enjoy an evening of exchanging culture or customs with the host’s family members. Take a deep sleep to take energy back for tomorrow adventure. Overnight in Hue.

Day 11 Hue - Kayak Downstream Perfume River  
Kayak Downstream Perfume River An early breakfast with Vietnamese coffee will be served by the host. Today you will do a kayaking trip, downstream of Perfume River to discover Sinh village whose fame is rustic folk paintings. Here we will learn how to make the paintings from the traditional materials and taking home as your souvenir! The trip is a hand-on experience of responsible travel to community. 

Sinh Folk Paintings is combination of traditional cultural values with ancient artistic methods that have been created through the labor of past generations. Most Sinh Village paintings are used for worship, and they express the mystical, nature-based beliefs of the ancient Vietnamese. Sinh paintings are made using just one printing-board to create the drawing lines and black shapes. After being printed in black, the work is sometimes completed with embellishments made with colorful lines. Some paintings are still printed on rustic paper.

Disembark and drive to local restaurant for lunch by your own or back to local house for family lunch with the host (optional). 

Free by your own at the rest of day until good bye dinner with host at garden of local house.

Day 12 Transfer from Hue to Hoi An - Eco-tour “Fishermen & The Waterways Of A Past”
Hoi AnBreakfast at your homestay in Hue then check out and transfer 3.5hrs to Hoi An. Arrival Hoi An Town for check in and lunch break.

HOI AN was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoi An has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roof houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets is still virtually intact. Many of the houses were constructed of rare timbers and decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters and pillars carved with ornamental designs. 

Early afternoon, we will start a half-day eco-tour Fishermen & The Waterways Of A Past”. In this tour, we will enjoy a wide range of experiences - from learning traditional fishing techniques to paddling the strange and unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boats while exploring the now tranquil coconut-palm flanked waterways of a past war. On this tour we provide an authentic social and cultural insight into the local Vietnamese way of life. As well you will take part in some hands-on activities that are fun, safe and interesting to people all of ages.

Late afternoon, back to your hotel and explore Hoi An nightlife by your own. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 13 Half-day cooking class at Red Bridge School
cooking classBreakfast in hotel then walk 10 minutes to Hai Scout Café at 98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An Ancient Town for the meeting point at 8:00 AM, then first you will visit Hoi An colorful market , and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. 

We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy.

On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours - each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration).

After the lesson, we sit down and enjoy what we have cooked. Transfer back to the meeting point then walk back to Thanh Van 2 hotel. The rest of day is a chance to make your own exploration in Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 14 Free day in Hoi An

Today is your free day at leisure.
Optional Sunset Dinner Cruise on Thu Bon River:
At 16:4, you walk to the pier from your hotel for boarding up.

Hoi AnThe Captain and crew will greet you as you step onto the boat. Once on your deck, The Cruise hostess will escort you to your private table and a complimentary cocktail and snack are served upon boarding, setting the scene for the unforgettable evening ahead. Don’t forget to have your camera in hand to take nice photos as the sun going down behind the mountain and all fishing activities on the river while cruising on Thu Bon River.

Dinner provides a unique experience to dine on the water and enjoy a seafood platter including fresh local prawns, fish, squids and crabs complemented perfectly by our excellent wine list available for purchase from your service team together with fresh tropical fruit for your dessert. A great way to start your evening is by watching the boat cast off from the outside observation deck.

The elegant dinner cruise lasts a leisurely 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to sip some cocktails and relax over a delightful dinner while listening to music. Upon your return to the Cinnamon Cruises pier, the crew will wish you farewell. Walk back to the hotel.

Day 15 Transfer to Da Nang - Fly to Nha Trang:
Breakfast in hotel, free shopping and discover ancient Hoi An by your self until drive 1 hrs to Da Nang City for flight to Nha Trang.

Arrival Nha Trang in an early afternoon. Transfer to Hotel for check in and the evening is free time to explore this beautiful beach city’s night life (many bars with live music performed by Philippines Band)

Day 16 Nha Trang: Fishing at Hon Tre Island & Snorkeling full day
07.30am, Vietnam Travel Depot’s guide and car will pick you up at your hotel in Nha Trang and head to the harbor. 

08.15am, travel to Hon Tre island, an isolate and remote island, which is also one of the most fascinate fishing destination. There is a fishing village here. Now you are comfortable to catch the net and have fun fishing.

01.30pm After a big catch, our boat will head to Dam Bay - A wild place closer to southeast of Hon Tre, which is surrounded by along beach with very clear, blue and calm water. Beside, It is a good place for snorkeling with many colorful coral reefs. 

On board, a big lunch will be prepared from your catch of the day and the seafood from our kitchen with local beers, red wine and many tropical fruits while you are snorkeling. 

03.30pm Back to the hotel.

Day 17 Transfer from Nha Trang to Da Lat - Dalat half-day city tour
Breakfast in hotel and check out. We have to drive 4.5hrs - 5hrs from Nha Trang Beach city to Dalat highland city because there is no flight or no train to link them together. However, we will have a very scenic drive with the changing of views from beaches up to mountainous area. Lunch en-route. 

Arrive Datlat in the afternoon. Check in and we will start our half-day trip to major attraction of Dalat: Valley of love, city garden of flowers, XQ embroidery Gallery, Domain De Marie Church, Dalat old railway station.

Day 18 Full Day of Kayaking in Tuyen Lam River
Tuyen Lam lakeMorning, our qualified guide & van will pick you up at your hotel in Dalat and we will transfer 10kms by van to one of the many beautiful lakes on the Langbian Plateau - Tuyen Lam Lake, which is truly one of the great hidden outdoor gems of South East Asia.

Our kayaks are built for stability so they act very much like a canoe, but with the speed and maneuverability of a kayak. From the boat launch area.  we trek out to the kayak launch which is only accessible by foot or boat. This trek can be modified to suit your fitness level. After we reach the kayaks we spend the remainder of the day exploring the many inlets and secrets spots on the lake that are only accessible by boat. After about 2 hours of exploring we make our way out to the far end of the lake for lunch.
  
A picnic style lunch, taking advantage of the many fruits and vegetable grown in the Dalat area is prepared by the guide. After lunch we explore the far end of the lake, which still has much of its jungle canopy intact and is one the most popular spots in Vietnam for bird watching. We slowly make our way back to the boat launch from here, enjoying more great views of the lush pine forested and jungle areas that border the lake. Early afternoon, back to Hotel in Dalat. Overnight in Dalat

Day 19 Free day in Dalat
DalatThis day is your whole free day at leisure in Dalat. You can hire a horse carriage to ride along Tran Hung Dao Street, that was well known of beautiful French Villas under the shade of hundred year old pine tree. Or else, visit Dalat’s market and taste a cup of highland coffee while enjoying the panorama view of Dalat city.

Another choice for you is to take an optional short trip to Dalat old railway station for a historic steam - train to small Trai Mat village with vegetable farm along the way. Upon arrival Trai Mat, visit Linh Phuoc Pagoda with famous dragon have been built from 50.000 bear bottles. Just take a little further walk, you can go and visit the local farm with very hospitable farmers right beside the pagoda. Back to hotel.

Overnight in Dalat

Day 20 Fly from Dalat to Saigon
Morning is your free time of last minute shopping in Dalat or just a time of tasting a cup of special tea of Dalat. Then transfer 1 hrs to Lien Khuong Airport for afternoon flight to Saigon.

Arrival Saigon, transfer to hotel and the rest of day is your free day to discover Saigon nightlife. Overnight in Saigon.

Day 21 Full day Saigon City & Cu Chi Tunnels by Army Jeeps
In the morning, our army jeep and guide will pick you up at hotel in SG and it will take 2 hours to reach Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Duoc). Stop at rice-paper-making villages to see how they produce the key ingredient of Vietnam cuisine.

Arrive Cu Chi Tunnels at 10.00 AM: an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War, built by simple tools and bare hands. Have lunch in local restaurant and back to Saigon. Arrival Saigon, before the jeep drops you off at your hotels, we will visit Central Post Office & Notre Dame Cathedral for taking photo with Jeep.
Overnight in Saigon.

Day 22 Saigon - Cai Be Homestay
At 8.00, Our guide and private car will pick you up at your hotel in Saigon and depart to Cai Be. From Cai Be, take a boat to visit a family-run bussiness producing rice paper - a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine, coconut candy workshop, then visit crispies mill, taste a cup of honey and take a short shopping there. Continue to visit Hoa Khanh Village, we can view the daily lives of people who work and play on the waterways. Here we have opportunity to visit fishing through fruit orchards and local family by biking on village paths. We will try many different kinds of tropical fruit cultivated on the island. Lunch in a local restaurant with fried elephant-ear fish, a special local dish.

In the afternoon, Continue to visit and check in homestay - a Vietnamese traditional style house surrounded by a lots of fruit trees. Enjoy local fresh fruits in its garden after visiting the orchard. We can join cooking dinner together with the host and have culture exchange with them, sharing interesting facts about this ancient house. (drinks such as beers or wine can be provided by host and will be paid by your own). Overnight in Cai Be.

Day 23 Cai Be - Vinh Long - Saigon
floating market Cai BeAfter breakfast, take a boat trip on the mighty Mekong River to reach the unique floating market Cai Be, there we will start bartering with local merchants from boat to boat. Enjoy your fruits from that good deal and continue to a breeding fruit Orchard of Mr. Tam Ho (Eight-Tiger), we will try many different kinds of tropical fruit cultivated on the island, here  we will be entertained with songs and traditional music performed by villagers. Here we can try one of famous traditional music instrument “Dan Bau”.

Disembark on Vinh Long Pier. Back to Saigon. The tour ends at your hotel in Saigon.

Day 24 Free day in Saigon
This day is your free day to explore Saigon. Hotel staff will help you to take a taxi to city center for shopping or taking some photos. Overnight in Saigon.
